Today is the Day I Admit my Fingerless Mitts are Too Small: an update on My Rainbow Heart
Pattern for these fingerless mitt’s is My Rainbow Heart by Stephanie Lotven
After getting the cuff done and a few inches of the color work going on my fingerless mitts, I have decided to admit they are just too small. That is what I get for deciding that I don’t need to knit a gauge swatch!
Why have I been so stubborn about the size issue? Even my husband could tell this mitt was never going to fit. My two main excuses: 1) I am going to lose weight in my hands; and 2) It will stretch in the blocking.
I frogged the mitt, and I have decided that not only am I going to knit a gauge swatch, I am also going to go back to my original plan to take this opportunity to learn how to magic loop properly.
I started my swatch in the round (using magic loop), and of course am getting horrible ladders again. Oh the agony!
I am not going to let myself get too frustrated this time, if I can use DPNs, I can magic loop.
I would like to share some great resources on magic loop knitting that are helping me through this learning curve.
