A New Quilt: My Take on Ruby May by Cuttingcloth

IMG_1269.jpg

#Socialdistancing has put me into major procrastination mode.

Rather than work on Stars and Springs or Marshall, I have been “looking for inspiration” on Instagram. Always dangerous. I follow #cuttingcloth, a really fabulous quilt shop outside of Melbourne, Australia.

You can buy a kit here that includes the pattern, 50 different liberty prints, the background fabric, english paper pieces, embroidery floss, stabilizer for the embroidery, a batting, and yarn for the crochet edge. They also include tutorial videos for each step. I think it’s a great deal, and debated whether to buy the kit or not.

Ultimately, I decided to go on my own, since I already have the liberty prints, background fabric (brussels washer by Kaufman in silver), and embroidery thread. Rather than the petals they use in the original, I am using a package of Baby Brimfield Stars paper pieces that I got at the Quilters Unlimited Show in Northern Virginia, USA, last year.

I’ll keep the project page up to date as I work on it.

Keep making and musing my friends.
